With the company fleet consisting predominantly of refrigeration trailers, both triaxles and tandem axles, Horizon is able to handle virtually all of our customer's needs whether they require TLR or LTL service.

Our dispatch team has the experience and expertise to build LTL loads while maintaining the ability to support the customer's requirements for transit time on any sized shipment. Horizon also understands our customer's needs for exclusive and precise service when shipping full loads. It is the team's ability to recognize the unique need each shipment requires that has built the company's reputation as a reliable service provider for both FTL and LTL shipments.

Refrigerated and Dry Goods

While Horizon has built a strong reputation transporting refrigerated shipments, the company has the ability to mix in dry goods all the while respecting the requirements of all types of freight need. We even have a few dry box trailers mixed into the fleet to ensure the needs of our customers shipping these types of dry goods are met when requested.

Warehousing in Winnipeg and Montreal

Horizon's ability to service LTL shipments in a timely manner is bolstered by the warehousing abilities the company has access to in both Winnipeg and Montreal. These warehouses give the company the needed tools and flexibility to customize and consolidate shipments when building loads to/and from most major cities in Canada and some points in the US. With access to over 4000 square feet of warehouse space in Winnipeg and 2000 in Montreal, Horizon is able to truly build loads that work for both the customer and the company. This warehouse space gives the company the ability to store freight when needed in order to satisfy a customer's requirement.

Horizon has built relationships with a network of partner carriers and warehouses that allow the company to assist customers' shipping needs, even in markets where we have less of a presence. If a Horizon truck is not available, we have the contacts to help a customer move their freight. Being a trucking company with over 30 years of operating experience, Horizon also has the knowledge and expertise in knowing how to move freight when a customer calls needing help.

Cross Docking in Montreal

It was determined about 10 years ago that Horizon was missing an opportunity in Montreal by not having a location where we could consolidate loads and build better LTL trailer loads. We were able to secure and lease about 2000 square feet of warehouse space, a couple of loading bays and some equipment parking in a secure yard in a Montreal suburb. We added a couple of local trucks and hired regional drivers to drive those along with a foreman to run the dock.

This development allowed us to really take off with how we were able to build loads and service our customers. It opened MANY doors that weren't available to us and further our already strong presence in the PQ market

Food Safety

In 2018 with the anticipation of the "Safe Food for Canadians Regulations Act" being implemented by "Canadian Food Inspection Agency" (C.F.I.A.) January 2019, Horizon International Distributors Inc. made a conscious effort to be pro-active in starting and developing our "Food Safety Management System" (FSMS). During the process we learned some new aspects of food safety, and also recognized we were already practicing many food safety procedures.

Our program has been developed based on compliance of the procedures and the responsibilities of all transportation companies in regards to HACCP, FSMS, GDP, and CFIA
